Blueprint For Halfpipe

George Clinton & Parliament / Funkadelic, Glaz'art Beach, August 4, 2010

The P-Funk army is grieving after the death of Gary Shide few weeks ago, it is not surprising that the last concert in Paris Band in Clinton is dedicated to him, or that Michael Hampton began immediately the evening with a "Maggot Brain" accents fatal.

To those who wondered how the group would arrive to take on the tiny stage of the ephemeral "range" of Glaz'art the answer was simple: they did not even try. The P-Funk is a great family, as in all families, quarrels, separations, new entrants as well. Even banged up and missing many of its key elements, it continues year after year to bring the gospel of groove around the globe. Patriarch Clinton himself is but a shadow, and almost ghostly voiceless, yet more than ever its presence makes the link between all these musicians, now the fragile balance between joyful jam funk veterans and general mess. This did not prevent the Parliament-Funkadelic 2010 version will take sometimes stumble, as on a version especially atrocious "Red Hot Mama."

Nothing to discourage or a loyal audience, who remained enthusiastic despite the downpour having frequently shot during the 3 hour concert, neither group would have probably prolonged his performance a bit if the team of Glaz'art had very elegantly decided to cut the microphones to enforce the curfew hour.

Although the heyday of the P-Funk are clearly behind us, hear this repertoire solid gold played live remains a pleasure that should enjoy it while there is still time.
